Charlotte County is conveniently located in Southern Virginia, roughly 90 minutes from Richmond, the state capitol and roughly 3 hours from Washington, DC, the nation’s capitol. We are also 90 minutes from Raleigh, NC.
Charlotte County has the best to offer in rural living, with four incorporated towns, Charlotte Court House, Drakes Branch, Keysville and Phenix being the hub of their communities. These towns and their surrounding communities offer quaint living at its very best.
EDUCATION
Charlotte County has top rated public schools. Charlotte County also has easy access to higher education.
Southside Community College, John H Daniel campus, is located in Keysville, VA enrolls roughly ??? Yearly and is the host to Old Dominion University through its distance learning program.
The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center located in South Boston, VA has access to classes and degree programs being taught by up to 10 colleges and universities including VA Tech, UVA, VCU, ODU and George Mason University.
Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College are both located within 45 minutes of Charlotte County in neighboring Prince Edward County.
RECREATION
Charlotte County is a host to many recreational and cultural activities as well. There is access to outdoor sporting opportunities including hunting and fishing, as well as, water related activities on Buggs Island Lake located within minutes of Charlotte County.
There is a public playground located in Keysville, VA and there are Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball fields located in Charlotte Court House, Keysville, Phenix, and Wylliesburg. The county is also host to a children’s soccer league and a newly formed adult football league.
There is one golf course located at Briery Country Club in Keysville, VA. There are several other courses located in Farmville, VA, just a short drive from Charlotte County.

Just outside of the Town of Keysville are the Charlotte County Industrial Park and the Heartland Business Park; both with convenient access to Highway 360.
