Southside Virginia Community College offers a number of
college-transfer programs and even more occupational-technical
opportunities. The truck-driving and heavy equipment programs,
for example, are the only ones offered at a community college
in Virginia. Special workforce training programs specific for area industries can be organized as needed. The average age of college students is 32, ranging from high school students to retirees. |
| Southside Virginia Community College has a large "dual-enrollment" program, the second-largest in the state. Randolph-Henry High School students are able to take college courses, from college faculty, earning both college and high school credit. Some of the students earn these credits as students in the Southside Governor's School, a selective program for advanced students. Others take college credit classes at the high school, and still others are enrolled in occupational-technical courses on the SVCC campus labs. |
